Acupuncture
Used in Veterinary medicine for thousands of years.
Acupuncture may be defined as the insertion of needles into specific points on the body to produce a healing response - but we can stimulate points without needles too! Each point has specific actions, with increasing proof appearing in the scientific literature as to how, and why, it works. Every species of animal can receive benefits from acupuncture. Some of the many benefits for pets who receive acupuncture include relaxation, pain relief, improved mobility, reduced inflammation, and superior performance. The benefits of acupuncture are cumulative; regular acupuncture sessions help animals to enjoy increased vitality for a longer lifespan.
Occasionally, animal patients are able to relax so deeply during their session that they fall asleep.

Pain Relief
Many animals suffer from pain that limits their ability to enjoy life. Pain medications may help, but sometimes the side effects make things worse. There are zero side effects to acupuncture! In my years of practice, I’ve noticed that many otherwise doting pet parents miss the subtle signs that their friend is in pain. After a few acupuncture sessions, their “getting old” pet has renewed vigor, more interest in life, and starts to play again!
Increased Performance
Many world-class professional and amateur athletes use acupuncture as a routine part of their training. If your animals are involved in any athletic endeavor, such as agility, racing, jumping, or showing, acupuncture can help them keep in top physical condition. Remember that even pet dogs, or backyard horses, are athletes in their own right! Even occasional physical activity can make young animals prone to strains and injuries. Routine acupuncture sessions can identify and treat minor aches and pains, preventing catastrophic injuries.
Nerve Stimulation
Nerve damage is an area where acupuncture benefits really shine! If your pet or horse has been diagnosed with nerve damage or a herniated disc, please, get acupuncture ASAP - even if surgery has been performed. Acupuncture point stimulation helps with nerve regeneration and preservation. Many veterinarians tell devastated pet parents that a paralyzed dog will never walk again, or to wait for medications to work before trying acupuncture. DON’T WAIT!!! The sooner we begin therapy, the better chances we have of restoring function.
Hard-to-treat Health Issues
Because acupuncture stimulates the body’s innate, natural ability to heal itself, it is a safe way to promote wellness for a variety of health issues. Does your pet or horse suffer from respiratory distress? Acupuncture can help. Do they get loose stools, or repeated episodes of colic? Acupuncture can help. What about skin issues, such as lick granulomas, or allergies? Acupuncture can help here too! Got so many diagnoses that you don’t even know where to begin? Start with acupuncture. Your pet, your horse, will thank you!
Needle Shy? No problem!
Some animals just cannot accept acupuncture needles. That’s fine! I’ve got many ways to provide equal benefits without needles. We can use laser, or acupressure, or phototherapy patches to stimulate healing. I can train you to do this from the comfort of your own home, reducing the need for multiple office visits.
